I am a figurative painter and my work combines traditional methods with a contemporary viewpoint. I was born in The Netherlands, and have lived in many countries all over the world. At first I chose an academic education (MA University of Leyde, The Netherlands). However in between my university studies, I was a war correspondent during the Lebanese civil war. After my husband joined the Netherlands Diplomatic Service I lived in Australia, Germany, Sweden and Malta.

But after experiencing the sorrow and destruction of so many lives, I returned to the creative process of painting and drawing for which I have had a passion all my life. I now wanted to concentrate on the positive side of humankind, to build up instead of destroy, to show the beauty of people: the very best of each person by holding up a loving mirror.
